About Kate

I’m a Play Therapist and Clinical Supervisor with many years of experience using play and creative arts to help children and young people overcome challenges. My own experiences of accessing therapy have taught me the importance of feeling truly seen, heard, acknowledged and valued in order for change and growth to occur. This is at the heart of what I aim to provide for those I support.

I love the varied nature of my role. I spend part of my week providing one to one play therapy, small group therapeutic play and consultation in one of our partner schools. I also work at our well-being centre supporting social care clients to process their experiences through therapy or life story work.  I help their key adults develop additional tools and ways of being which enhance and strengthen the attachment relationship.

Additionally, I provide clinical supervision for other professionals and love sharing my passion for therapeutic play through delivering interactive courses that bring theory to life through experiential activities.

Moments that give me goose bumps are when clients take risks such as trying out a different way of being with others or trying out different ways of doing things.  Stepping out of their comfort zone can bring about healing and recovery.

A bit about my world beyond therapy –

I love eating chocolate, getting my head into a good book, walking along Northumbrian beaches, running and working out or even given myself permission not to exercise when down time or more chocolate is what’s needed most!

Trained in Clinical Supervision, Play Therapy, Sandstory Therapy, Filial Therapy, AUTPlay Therapy, Group Therapy & delivers training.
