So, you’ve decided you would like a Therapist to join your team.  Fantastic decision! In order to do this effectively, we recruit and support a fully qualified therapist for you, who will ultimately become part of your pastoral, safeguarding and SENDCo team.

Our commitment to you

1. A fully qualified, experienced therapist dedicated to your team and looked after by us – every therapist accesses ongoing CPD, external clinical supervision, in-house supervisory support plus additional paid administration time on top of the hours they work for you.
2. Therapeutic support tailored to the needs of individual children and families plus group work for lower-level intervention.
3. Support, advice, guidance for all staff working with children accessing therapy. Where possible our therapists will also attend your staff meetings in order to maintain team integration.
4. A catalogue of resources to enhance your everyday practice continually updated via our website professionals’ members area.
5. Access to the wider IntraQuest team for advice and support.

Your commitment to us

There are certain factors that we have to take into consideration before we begin to explore options.

Are you ready?

This may seem like a funny question to pose, however, taking on a therapist involves creating space not just physically, but mentally too. Here’s what we need from you:

1. A well established and settled senior leadership team – if you imagine the leadership team are like the parents of a household, if they are wobbly, so to the kids (and in the case of school, the rest of the staff team). With any therapeutic support, there is often an initial increase in problematic behaviour as the children begin to work through their insecurities and so a stable, consistent, and emotionally contained system of support is crucial.
2. A willingness to create an appropriate referral process alongside our therapist
3. A consistently available and private space for the therapist to use? This is an absolute must, as children need to be afforded the same privacy an adult would expect if they were having counselling. Additionally, children who have experienced chaos and trauma work best in therapy where the space always looks the same and contains the same equipment each and every time they attend. This provides the best opportunity for emotional regulation as it makes sessions as predictable as possible.
4. A willingness to adapt to a trauma informed approach to behaviour management. For children who have experienced trauma, a traditional reward/discipline model of shaping behaviour can increase a sense guilt and shame and feed into low self-esteem and self-worth. Therefore, strategies need to be adapted accordingly and our therapist will support with this.

Don’t worry if you are unsure about any of the above… we can help you explore this further and create a package that is entirely suitable for you.
